Gossett Battles Bristol Chaos from 24th to Ninth, Secures Critical Points Buffer in eNASCAR Coca-Cola Qualifying Series
Tommy Gossett turned one of his least favorite tracks into a statement night Tuesday at Bristol
Motor Speedway, charging from 24th on the grid to a hard-fought ninth-place finish in Round 4
of Segment 2 of the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Qualifying Series.
Running the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series cars for the eighth race overall of the 2026
Qualifying Series season, the 175-lap showdown at the World’s Fastest Half-Mile delivered
exactly the high-stakes, bumper-to-bumper chaos Bristol is famous for. Multiple cautions,
aggressive side-by-side racing, and strategic pit stops with five tire sets available turned the
.533-mile concrete oval into a grinder. Yet Gossett, piloting his entry with a special America’s
250th birthday scheme, stayed patient and capitalized on every opportunity. “I’ve said it before
— Bristol has never been my favorite place,” Gossett said after the race. “But we came in
knowing we had to battle. The car had solid long-run speed, and I just tried to stay out of trouble
early, pick up spots on restarts, and not get caught up in the wrecks. To come from 24th to ninth
feels like a victory out here on the World’s Fastest Half-Mile.”
The race featured the typical Bristol intensity: long green-flag runs that allowed leaders to lap
the field, followed by pit cycles that shuffled the order and late-race cautions that bunched the
field for overtime-style dashes. Gossett methodically advanced through the pack, avoiding the
multi-car incidents that sidelined several contenders. Clean air and smart tire management in
the closing stages allowed him to hold off challengers and lock down the top-10 finish.
The result delivers more than just a respectable placing — it provides Gossett with a solid points
buffer as the cut line for advancement heats up. Sitting near the bubble entering the night, the
P9 effort strengthened his position in the overall standings heading into the final stretch of the
O’Reilly segment and the transition toward the Championship Series.
Gossett, the Tennessee native and aspiring eNASCAR driver who has turned perseverance and
determination into consistent results this season, continues to show why he belongs among the
top contenders in the Qualifying Series. With the grind of short-track racing now behind him for
this round, the focus shifts to the upcoming events as the field battles for those critical
advancement spots.Full results and updated standings are available at eNASCAR.com.
